Salma Hayek made her Hollywood debut in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. The Oscar-nominated performance on Frida was the next major step. Hayek has also been active in television including as the executive producer of the hit show Ugly Betty. Salma Hayek Jimenez began her life on September 2, 1966. The daughter of Spanish mother and a Lebanese father, she was raised in a prestigious Catholic household. Born into a privileged Catholic home, Hayek attended a convent school in Louisiana in the age of 12 and lived with her aunt in Houston, Texas, during her teens. Hayek dropped out of a Mexico City school after a short time to study acting. She became a Mexican telenovela actress.
